Welcome to Kinematic Arts!

Home of the SocketScape system.

Kinematic Arts is a new company with a new perspective on
Prosthetic/Orthotic component design.  All product ideas are inspired by
problems discovered within a clinical environment and seek to fill needs that
are not being met by existing technologies.

The Patent Pending* SocketScape system is a new tool for both practitioners
and amputees that can be used to achieve an optimal transfemoral socket fit.
The system was designed for use on any transfemoral socket with a flexible
liner to help manage amputee limb volume fluctuations and increase support.

The operation of the SocketScape system is simple:  Threading a special key
through the socket frame puts pressure on a strategically designed Force
Distribution Plate (FDP).  The resulting FDP distortion
(Fig.1, Fig.2) yields
a corresponding shape change of the flexible liner which can be used to
tighten a loose fit, increase support and improve comfort. Because the
key/forceplate system allows for incremental shape adjustments, the fit can
be effectively "fine-tuned" to obtain the perfect balance of comfort and
stability. The design of the system allows it to be configured in an almost
infinite number of ways to achieve the maximum functional benefit for the
patient.

The SocketScape system is being offered within the continental U.S. for
$25.00 and comes with two types of control keys (custom thumb and
tamper-proof), tamper-proof L key, Force Distribution Plates, full set of
instructions and free shipping.  We know you will enjoy what your
competition has already discovered...

P&Oblog.org Product Review: SocketScape
RE: O&P business News - November 1, 2006 - p.76

"Another simple yet brilliant idea proves the world improves with small
steps, not leaps and bounds.

Here's a simple idea: Instead of adding padding or bladders between the rigid
frame and flexible liner on the transfemoral prosthesis, use a simple
screw-in device to push the flexible liner tighter against the patient.

They call it SocketScape..."
